Supply chain management: Zanardi Fonderie as a one-stop shop to manage all your orders

Complete coordination of projects to optimise production costs and times

Improvement of the integrated company process thanks to the Supply Chain

Recent investments by Zanardi Fonderie in the creation of an efficient supply chain management system have allowed the optimisation and streamlining of order management, placing the internal foundry process in relation with a trusted network of external suppliers.
The possibility to internally coordinate the entire production chain – from the procurement of raw materials to melting, burr removal services, heat treatments, mechanical processing, coating, quality control and certification – gives the client an enormous advantage, allowing them to rely on a consolidated Supply Chain Management structure that guarantees proper maintenance and accurate order processing.

Zanardi Fonderie: Supply Chain and innovation

In order to offer an increasingly complete and integrated service with added value for the market, in recent years we have heavily invested in innovating our own in-house mechanical machine shop and deburring department. The installation of two new OKUMA 5-axis lathes in the mechanical machine shop and two new EVOLUT automatic deburring robot cells has allowed us to expand our range of possible machining on raw castings.

The evolution of Zanardi Fonderie with SAP

With the aim of implementing a more structured, functional and efficient Supply Chain Management system, as of January 2019 Zanardi Fonderie implemented the new SAP S/4HANA ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) management system.
The management of internal information, now more complex than ever, plays a central role in Supply Chain activities. To this end, the SAP S/4HANA ERP allows us to manage all company processes through the entire production chain, thus fulfilling the integrated company philosophy whereby, as we often like to say “the right hand needs to work in harmony with the left hand”.

The Supply Chain offers numerous benefits to our clients, including:

  • The ability to rely on a single point of contact for order management, from definition to delivery of the design;
  • Qualitative reliability, guaranteed by the experience of Zanardi Fonderie in the spheroidal graphite iron and austempered ductile iron sector;
  • Respect for planning schedules and delivery times;>;
  • Cost savings thanks to reduced transport costs and respect for agreed delivery times.
Always with a view toward continuously improving the overall service offered to the client, Zanardi Fonderie has also successfully implemented the EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) system with several clients, a technology allowing the automation of data exchange operations including orders, shipping, and invoices.

Supply Chain and sustainability

The Supply Chain not only allows us to optimise production flows, it has also generated several benefits in terms of sustainability, among which:
  • Reduced waste, thanks to increased production efficiency and reduced energy consumption;
  • Optimisation of transport and subsequent reduced environmental impact.
