Foundry and technology at the center of a reflection on the future of the sector
On July 18, an internal training event entitled “Worn out by whom? Stories of generations in the foundry ”, dedicated to Zanardi Fonderie employees.
The event was created with the aim of challenging the stereotype of foundry work as a grueling activity, proposing instead a modern and sustainable vision of factory work.
Work that evolves, people who grow
The title of the event is provocative: “Usurati a chi?” overturns the image of workers “worn out” by physical and repetitive work, demonstrating that with tools such as job rotation, continuous training, technological innovation, and intergenerational collaboration, working in a foundry can become a space for growth, dignity, and future prospects.

Authoritative voices for an open debate
Riccardo Maggiolo, trainer and author of the book Lavorare è da boomer (Working is for boomers), opened the training day with a reflection on the changing meaning of work across generations. This was followed by presentations by Paolo Gubitta, professor at the University of Padua, on the strategic role of SMEs and family businesses in Italian manufacturing, and Carlo Pasqualetto, CEO of Azzurrodigitale, who focused on digitization, automation, and internal growth paths.

Over to the protagonists
The final round table, moderated by Francesco Salvoro, HR & Safety Manager, featured Zanardi Fonderie employees: Massimo Lupi, RSU of Zanardi Fonderie with over 40 years of service Safety Manager, featured Zanardi Fonderie employees Massimo Lupi, RSU of Zanardi Fonderie with over 40 years of service at the company, Fabrizio Moretto, molding operator, and Enrico Veneri, operations manager, who shared concrete experiences on how technology, training, and intergenerational collaboration have transformed the way they work in the factory.

A commitment that looks to the future
Starting a debate on the relationship between foundry work and new technologies means looking to a future that focuses on human skills and aims to enhance them even more. “Investing in human resources training is essential to seize all the opportunities offered by technological innovation,” said Riccardo Zanardi, Vice President and CEO of Zanardi Fonderie. “Effective human capital management is the main lever for long-term competitiveness and sustainability.”
